Quake running on a Nokia n95

Check this out. I have managed to get Quake I running on my Nokia n95 mobile phone. I remember spending £70 for an extra 4mb of ram in 1996 just to get Quake working on my pentium 350mhz!!

Here is what you need to do to get Quake working on your Nokia n95:

1 – Download and run this on your nokia n95

http://koti.mbnet.fi/hinkka/pips_s60_1_2_SS.sis

This lets you run the compiled c++ code that  the quake engine has been coded in on you s60 device - your Nokia n95.

2 – Everything installed ok so far? Now you need to install quakes game engine (the quake game) by downloading and installing this to your phone

3 – You now have the game engine installed on you n95 there is just one more thing you need to play quake. The .pak file. This is the main file of the game that contains all the games graphics, sounds maps etc. To get a free version of the .pak file, you need to download and install the quake demo from ID here on your PC.

4 – Once you have installed the game to your computer, navigate to the games directory. I will be somethig like c:\quake1 and go the the ID1 directory c:\quake1\ID1

Here you will find the pak0.pak file.

Now create a directory on you n95 memorycard \quake1\id1 and upload the pak0.pak file from your hard drive there.

5 – Thats it. Your can now play the quake demo on you Nokia n95! Obvcourse, if you have the full game you can just comp the full game .pak file and you will have the full game too!
